Schooled in Albany and Perth in the late 1960s early 1970s, I moved to Geraldton in the mid 1990s while working with ABC Radio. I had previously worked for the ABC in Tasmania, South Australia, New South Wales and Victoria, but I really wanted to live and work in regional Western Australia and when the opportunity arose to come to the Mid West I grabbed it with both hands.

My small family consists of my wife Gabrielle and my daughter Phoebe. Gabrielle is an art student at the local TAFE, while Phoebe is currently in Year 6 at St Lawrences Primary School.

My personal pursuits include football (Chapman Valley and Subiaco supporter), long distance running (held various positions in local Harriers Club) and Geraldton Marathon director, netball (girls U/11 coach), basketball (girls U/13 coach), speedway (immediate past president of Geraldton City Speedway), and Rotary (sergeant of Geraldton-Greenough Club).

I resigned from the ABC at the end of last year to pursue some educational goals. I am studying part time with the aim of obtaining my Masters Degree in Education.

I am currently self-employed. I run an educationally oriented consultancy business and provide services to Geraldton Senior College, John Willcock College and the Central West College of TAFE. I also run a small desk-top publishing business.

In the 10 years that I have lived in Geraldton I have spent a great deal of time travelling the country working on a wide variety of regional issues. Getting to know many people in many communities has helped me understand the needs of what I would describe as my extended family.

Several major issues stand out for me as fundamentally important for the future security of regional Western Australia. I have taken a personal interest in health, education and employment issues. These are the main concerns for most of our Mid West communities.
